Organizations continue to emphasize pay for performance, and employees are asking for a stronger link between the two, yet there remains a significant gap concerning the performance and pay link.
The authors stress that addressing three key dynamics during midyear performance check-ins will reinforce the link between performance and pay.

Axiom Consulting Partners' 2013 Compensation Budget Projections report incorporates data from WorldatWork, the Conference Board and Mercer Human Resources Consulting.
Of particular note, employers continue to emphasize the allocation of salary budget increases towards merit pay, particularly for higher-performing employees. Beyond that, U.S. salary increase budgets continue to remain relatively flat. Research this year projects a 3% median increase in salary budgets, similar to findings the past three years.
