Don Ruse, Partner

Don Ruse brings over 30 years of experience and insight to helping C-level executives and global organizations develop and implement strategies that drive profitable growth. Don has served as trusted adviser to over 60 organizations, partnering with them to successfully address new growth opportunities, cost and profitability pressures, and large-scale organization transformation challenges. He has deep expertise in strategy, organization design, business process improvement and culture transformation.  He has served clients across a broad range of industries with considerable experience working with leaders of innovation-based organizations in technology, materials science, and life sciences. Don’s global experience is extensive, having spent considerable time working in Asia, EMEA, and North America.



Prior to joining Axiom Consulting Partners, Don spent 13 years with Sibson Consulting. He helped establish and co-lead Sibson’s Talent and Organization Practice, managed Sibson’s Raleigh, NC office and served as an elected Managing Partner of the firm. Before joining Sibson, Don spent 11 years as a practitioner and manager in the areas of organization development, human resources and strategic planning. He held various management and consulting positions with AlliedSignal, Mobil Oil, The Quaker Oats Company and Lennox International.

Notable Achievements

  • Designed and implemented a multi-year transformation strategy for the IT function of a $10 billion global technology company to increase the value realized from an annual IT investment of $400+ million.  Transformation efforts resulted in an annual reduction in IT costs of $60+million the repurposing of financial and human capital to drive revenue growth and profit through targeted information technology investment.
  • Developed and deployed a capabilities-based business strategy and organization design for a division of a global technology company that improved their ability to bring value-added technologies to market and achieve double digit improvement in both revenue and profit.
  • Designed and implemented new work processes and an organization structure for the North American Financial Shared Services Center and Indian Finance Operations Center of a global diversified technology company that reduced cycle time and total cost to serve, while increasing customer satisfaction with services received.
  • Developed and implemented a corporate strategy and structure for a Japanese pharmaceutical company to coordinate and govern four discrete businesses established to discover, develop, make and sell drugs within the NAFTA market, resulting in increased coordination and collaboration across the businesses, improved speed to market, and reduced overall infrastructure costs through the implementation of a shared services model covering the HR, Finance, IT, and legal functions.
  • Designed and implemented a large-scale organization transformation for a property and casualty company.  Worked with senior leadership to develop a strategy for merging two businesses into one geographic business unit. Implemented changes to the organizational goal setting processes, leadership accountabilities/decision rights, performance measurement and management, and direct financial rewards schemes.  Solutions supported the property business returning to profitability and the auto business realizing double-digit growth in new policy underwriting.

Don speaks frequently on the topic of strategy implementation. He has shared his perspectives with such organizations as The Conference Board and the Institute for International Research. Don is frequently published and his work has included articles in Research and Technology Management, Human Resources Planning, WorldatWork’s workspan magazine and the Association of Manufacturing Excellence.


Don earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the TRIUM Program, a global executive MBA program sponsored by the London School of Economics, Stern School of Business-New York University, and the HEC School of Management-Paris. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.
